Overview
This training focuses on the therapist’s approach to ethical decision-making, emphasizing the importance of internal values and care ethics over external rule-following. By integrating existential-humanistic principles and care ethics, participants will explore how fear influences their ethical choices and how to cultivate a fearless, relationally-centered practice. The training will involve practical applications, case discussions, and reflective exercises to help therapists navigate common ethical dilemmas with a focus on empathy, compassion, and relational responsibility. Participants will learn strategies to make ethical decisions that prioritize client well-being while maintaining professional integrity, even in challenging situations.
1. Identify three ways fear influences ethical decision-making in therapy.
2. Differentiate between value-based and rule-based ethics using two examples.
3. Analyze ethical dilemmas and propose one strategy to reduce fear-based decision-making.
4. Reflect on two personal fears and how they affect clinical work.
5. Apply strategies to mitigate fear-driven decisions in a case study.
